چکیده
It is not fully elucidated whether the restoring of normal glucose metabolism after successful simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation (SPK) improves vascular wall morphology and function in type 1 diabetic (T1D) patients. Therefore, we compared arterial stiffness, assessed by pulse wave velocity (PWV), carotid intima-media thickness (IMT), biomarkers calcification T1D patients SPK or kidney alone (KTA). In 39 KTA adult similar age, PWV, IMT, circulating matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) were at median 83 months post transplantation. Additionally, plaques visualized semi-qualitatively classified. Although PWV IMT values similar, occurrence atherosclerotic (51.3 vs. 70.3%, p < 0.01) calcified lesions (35.9 64.9%, 0.05) was lower There significantly concentrations MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, osteocalcin subjects. Among analyzed biomarkers, only logMMP-1, logMMP-2, logMMP-3 associated with log HbA1c. Multivariate stepwise backward regression analysis revealed that MMP-1 MMP-3 variability explained Normal achieved followed favorable profile metalloproteinases, which may reflect vasoprotective effect pancreas

Successful Pregnancy after Simultaneous Pancreas-Kidney Transplantation
The effect of pregnancy on simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplant recipients has previously been described, but experience is limited. We describe the case of a thirty-five-year-old female who previously underwent simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplant for type 1 diabetes mellitus-complicated nephropathy. An integrated multidisciplinary team including the transplant team, nephrologist, endocr...

A 34-year-old woman with type 1 diabetes on hemodialysis was admitted to our hospital for simultaneous pancreas kidney transplantation received from her father. She had suffered from type 1 diabetes mellitus since age 13, and had complained of serious atonic gastroenteropathy and orthostatic hypotension. After the transplantation, she became free from hemodialysis and insulin injection. At the ...
